To finalize the data of a different trip, the trip through Guangzhou, Hong Kong and Macao 2011, we will detail (as always) an important part of any adventure, accommodation. The first one, 3 days in Guangzhou.

Guangzhou, also called Canton, is a city in southern China very close to the well-known Hong Kong. Its history, its Cantonese cuisine and the largest fair of import and export of products, are its main claims.

One of the main problems we have had on this trip (both in Guangzhou and Hong Kong) has been the coincidence with two of the main fairs in the world, which has made the accommodation much more expensive. In Guangzhou, not only that, but there was hardly any hotel availability. Finally we have finished in a very particular one, the Dongyue Fashion Hotel (It is important to always bring names in Chinese to taxi drivers or means of transportation)

The options ranged from luxurious hotels near Pazhou to accommodations just outside a huge city. He Dongyue Fashion Hotel has been around € 25 / person and night in rooms with two beds and including breakfast. The reservation on this occasion we have made with Agoda, which has worked perfectly, although they also allow you to perform them from the own web of the hotel.

his Location leaves a little to be desired in terms of the central concept of a city, although for us it has met the objective of being less than 15 minutes from the Pazhou where the Canton Fair was held, in addition to having a free bus service to get closer to she. A taxi to any point in the center (considering downtown as the axis of Beijing Road, Tianzi Pier and Xianju Street) has hovered between 40 and 46 RMB (between 4 and 5 euros). Below a map to guide the taxi driver on duty.

The rooms They are distributed over several floors and, in principle, because of the internet comments we have read, they seem clean but simple, as is the reception.

Of the cleaning General of the place it seems that there is not too much information, as well as of the street in which we stayed.

The rest of "extras" to highlight could be that it has free WIFI in the lobby, wired internet (provided) in the rooms, is open 24 hours and breakfast and lunch service in the nearby premises ...

... so it's time to do our usual "GUIDED VISIT" of the accommodation With all the details and impressions.

The transfer from Baiyun Airport to anywhere in the city of Guangzhou takes about 40-45 minutes. At that moment we began to enter a truly authentic street, with food stands, butchers, vegetable markets and people making their lives. We are in a Chinese Chinatown, with a Location pulling east of the city (eye, no metro stops) ...

... there, among all these businesses stands out a large red sign that has no loss, "Dongyue Hotel". The reception and lobby are equally spacious and very pleasant spaces to start the day or end the night.

The general facilities of the hotel leave a little to be desired. They look neglected, not in cleanliness, but in aesthetic aspects. Unpainted walls, old elevator, stairs with deteriorated ceramics. We are on the 4th floor (the elevator only goes up to the 3rd so it is necessary to continue walking up) and from here we have great views of the overall aspect of the neighborhood.

The rooms it shows that they are newly renovated, without windows, with a simple but austere decoration, although with two huge beds to be two-bed rooms (they fit perfectly 4)

Of course, it has all kinds of facilities. From free coffee and tea, through a simple television, internet network cable if someone carries a laptop, hairdryer (on request at reception), adapters for plugs, extra pillows, small desk, etc ... To have has up to "extras "Unexpected (which makes us think about the uses of the hotel in other times)

The cleaning, yes, it is impeccable. No complaints about it.

The bathrooms, although clean too, perhaps if they leave something to be desired. They have gels and shampoos but you have to use flip flops to shower and the water comes out from under the shower. Very simple.

The Attention Reception is IMPECCABLE. Nice people, polite and always attentive. They provide you with what you need, and they even care to find you a taxi if you ask for it (for example for the transfer to the airport or to a train station as in our case). Some of them do not speak English, but quickly look for who does.

He breakfast? Ahem ... let's see. First of all, you need a voucher that you receive at the reception (free but necessary) and with that voucher you approach the door next to the hotel where you enter a kind of restaurant. There are a couple of "chinitas" that do not even pay attention to you by filling a central table of "rare" food (white rice flooded with water, slices of ham with a terrible pint, Chinese noodles and bimbo bread, come on, what we all want in a breakfast). The best, coffee, water soluble intantaneous. There are no more options. Anyway…

The we would recommend? In an accommodation like this it is difficult to give a categorical response, as there are as many travelers as there are people. In our case YES We would recommend it, because despite its cons (location, breakfast and "simplicity"), its pros (authentic neighborhood, ease of communication, attention, spacious rooms and, above all, price) are many. Therefore, it is recommended by CHAVETAS.ES
