As you will have read during the whole story of the trip, the history of Ireland has fascinated us.

Although we had already seen it, we had a very vague memory of a movie that we liked a lot: Michael Collins. Although many others are set in the Irish conflict (In the name of the Father, The Boxer, The shadow of the devil, In the name of the Son, ...) they are all contextualized in the last 3 decades. What happened after the 1916 Uprising until the creation of the Irish Free State is very well reflected in the latter.

But we will not talk about history again. Doesn't it happen to you that when you watch a movie set where you have gone, you let out an unconscious sigh?

Following this chronological order, after the Easter Rising of 1916 and the imprisonment and execution of the leaders of this revolt, a feeling of indepedence arose even more in Ireland. In December 1921, under Michael Collins, a treaty that sealed the Irish Free State that left Northern Ireland aside. The Republicans found it insufficient that it led to a Civil War where many leaders died (including Michael Collins). He April 1, 1949 the Republic of Ireland finally, and Northern Ireland continued and remains the main source of conflicts in the country. But there we go into other movies.
