The trip to Antarctica on video (II)

It is said that only in the most virgin corners of the world can you see the most beautiful sunsets. This happens in Africa, happens in certain places in Asia and possibly in places still unexplored or unexploited ...

We fired them with one of those sunsets. Before we would visit Danco Island, crowning its summit with the last forces of the day and heavy snow, surrounded by multiple nests of Gentoo Penguins.

I will never forget that beautiful sunrise over Neko Harbor, the most beautiful sunrise I've ever woken up. The sun hits the mountains reflecting them over the icy waters while the huge icebergs and ice floes flash a blinding light leaving a postcard to frame.

We disembarked in the Andvord Bay, located on the west coast of the Land of Graham, thus returning to step on the Antarctic Peninsula, mainland, surrounded by true giant "Brown Experts." Penguins and other wildlife accompany us as we reach the summit. There, in complete silence, we again feel the enormous sensation of immense loneliness, today interrupted by the enormous glaciers that surround us cracking in the sun hitting them intensely from the first hour.

Friday, December 11, 2009, Josep has run off to the main beach. He has heard something like "a bath" and seen and not seen. Josep and Angela have been my true companions of this trip and possibly to whom I owe that it has been so special. There I find it, Angela on the floor of laughter and Josep in a water at just over 0ºC. The truth is that it is a unique, unrepeatable opportunity to taste the iciest waters on the planet ...

The afternoon of that day we cross Paradise bay, one of the most common routes of the "Antarctic cruises" (which we would hardly see in our expedition). It was the best landing of the entire trip, surrounded by hundreds of shades and effects that the sun created on glaciers, icerbergs and icebergs accompanied by cormorants, sea lions, seals and even Minke whales ...

Friday, December 11, 2009, after almost 2 hours of one of the most beautiful landings that human beings can enjoy, we have landed in an abandoned Argentina base. We are about to climb to the top although the fatigue already begins to weigh. They are very hard conditions and many days go by. Then another of those magical places awaits us, with a beautiful sunset, the Lemaire Canal

… He Lemaire Channel It is one of the most photogenic and beautiful in the entire Antarctic Peninsula, but it is almost never seen in the sun like now. Crowds of glaciers hang almost making equibrios for their sloping walls.

This day I started to write my first postcards, surely the most inspired I could ever do. It is not normal to have a day like today in Antarctica. It has been a true beauty of the day, with everything, climbs, walks, whale watching, nice penguins, zodiak expedition, colored icebergs, Antarctic bath, snow wars, slides ... Here life goes on, while "the other world" , "the world of men" completely ignores what was once a planet where nature ruled, a blue planet ...
